The mission of the Digital Projects Department is to create and provide access to digital materials in support of the University Libraries mission to provide excellent research collections and expedite access to knowledge. These efforts further the University of Cincinnati's comprehensive mission of teaching, learning, research and community service.
The department provides guidance, expertise and assistance in the development of digital projects; coordinates the work of an advisory committee which recommends projects for implementation; manages implementation of individual digital projects, including coordination with OhioLINK and other organizations to provide multiple avenues of access; and maintains a website which provides documentation of the program and a list providing access to University Libraries digital projects and direction to other digital resources. The University of Cincinnati Digital Press is an imprint for selected research publications of the University Libraries.
The staff consists of faculty librarians assisted by student workers and is assisted by the Digital Projects Advisory Committee and the Luna User Group.
Serve as a resource for information on current technological developments related to programs.
Assist in the development of Project Proposals (see Project Proposal Elements Checklist).
Assist in providing training for digital projects.
Provide production services for small projects.
The manner of implementation will vary. Some projects will be undertaken and production managed within the Digital Projects Department. Production for some projects may take place within the initiating department. Some projects will be outsourced. Some projects may be cooperative efforts with other university units or community organizations.
